Today we again attempted potty training. We have been doing it off and on for the past several months (since summer). We have had a lot of success: the kids have reached the point where we've ventured out of the house a couple of times without diapers. Actually, today was the second time. The first time was about a week after Christmas, we went to the playground, and I brought our potty chair along. They both used the potty while we were out.
Today, however, was a giant step forward. We went to town to go swimming at the pool at the gym. It is about a 30 minute drive from our house. I had to stop by the store first to get more swimming diapers, so it took us about 45 minutes. They both used the potty before we left the house and immediately on arriving at the gym. We swam for a while (almost 2 hours) and went back home. They both also used the potty as soon as we got home. Not a single accident! They didn't want to put on diapers for a nap!
After naptime, however, was not as successful. Each of the kids gets a glass of apple juice when they wake up. We took off Ben's diaper, and he peed in his pants within 30 minutes. Nikki refused to let us take of her diaper. So, we let it go. Pick your battles...
I can't wait to try again. Hopefully, we'll have more successes, and we'll have to work on what to do after nap time.
