We now have a purchase agreement/contract for our new house that has been signed by both sellers. The husband is in prison, so it took about a week to get the papers back. We checked with the bank, and their are no leins against the house, even though they stopped paying their mortgage a year ago. The inspection should be today, pending having the electricity turned on. We have a no-cost rental agreement already drawn up, so that if the inspection goes well, then we will be able to move in this weekend. We still have to paint and clean, so we probably won't actually move our stuff in until next week.
As far as our current house is concerned... The buyers found out about our flood a couple of years ago. Because of this, they are having a bit of difficulty obtaining flood insurance. Joe said that they were quoted a policy for close to $300 a month. We currently pay $450 a year for flood insurance. So, we sent them our papers and statements, so hopefully this won't be too much of a setback.
The kids are really excited about moving. They went with us to see the house, and they each picked out their bedrooms. They helped to pick out the paint colors for their bedrooms, too. They also really like the idea that the new house will have two bathrooms! And, they love the yard. There's a small slope at the very back of the backyard (to help with drainage), and they both enjoyed rolling down the "hill."

Hope it works out. Dan told me the buyers blackout because of the flood insurance, is there still a chance it works?
They said it was because they couldn't afford the flood insurance. That's bologne. Our policy is $450/year, and they got a quote for $300/month. We offered to let them assume our policy, and they declined.
